Are you in need of a new boiler or is a new boiler on the cards for the near future? If your answer is yes to either of these questions, then there are a few things you may wish to consider before committing to your new purchase. Getting a new boiler is a big decision that will be a large part of your life for years to come and therefore we are here to help you find the one that is right for you.

A new heating system should be a valued investment for your home, however, if not thought about carefully it can be stressful and costly!

To help you out, we have made a guide with some of our frequently asked questions and answers.

1. Where would you like your new boiler located?

We have found that when a homeowner requires a new boiler installation, fairly few have considered alternative locations for their new purchase! Many boilers are able to be wall mounted which saves space and allows them to be installed out of sight in kitchen cupboards and airing cupboards. One of the benefits of having your boiler installed in a cupboard is that it is close by in case of emergencies.

Not all homes will have a suitable kitchen cupboard for their boiler to be fitted, so other good locations could be under stair cupboards and boarded lofts. When using the loft, the boiler really is out of sight and out of mind, enabling you to get the most efficient use of household storage and space without losing a cupboard. Again, not all houses will have a suitable loft space so it is worth asking your gas engineer what options are available to you.

Which boiler model is right for you?

There are many manufacturers and models of boilers on the market available to you which leaves you with a lot of choice for your new boiler installation. There will be bigger brand names that you may recognise such as Vaillant and other smaller and less well known brands. Slightly more expensive options are usually going to provide you the most reliability however you should never feel that you can’t ask for multiple quotes on different boiler models to help you choose.

When choosing a manufacturer, you will need to decide what features are most important to you such as longer warranties, low prices or extra features such as thermostats or magnetic filters included. Your engineer will be able to advise what they consider to be the best option for you, but this is your personal decision to make.
